Advancing Basic and Clinical Research, Facilitating New Treatments for Human Disorders, and Improving the Lives of Transplant Recipients

March 25 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm PDT

Ahmad Salehi, MD,
Director of Research at Donor Network West, Adjunct Professor at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Stanford Medical School

Presented By: Ahmad Salehi, MD

When families authorize donation for medical research, they allow their loved one to build a long-lasting legacy of hope that could not be accomplished in any other way. Donor Network West strives to increase the number of lives saved and healed through organ and tissue transplantation. In addition to transplantation, donation for research purposes may save and heal future lives through the advancement of medical research. Research donations help increase knowledge of diseases and allow for the development of novel medications to treat them. Increasing our hospital partners’ familiarity with our research program will help to strengthen the hospitals donation program.

Desired Outcomes:

  • Express an understanding of the authorization process;
  • Describe the role of DNWest’s IRC and Medical Advisory Board
  • List some of DNWest’s Research Projects and Research Partners
