Trauma in the elderly has become the predominant form of trauma admitted to trauma centers in the United States. Caring for older adults is different than for younger trauma victims. This talk will address factors associated with trauma in older adults and the challenges in meeting needs of older adults in resource-constrained settings.

Desired Outcomes:

  • Examine the epidemiology and patterns of geriatric trauma
  • Review the models for care for this population
  • Describe the future plans for geriatric trauma
