November 14 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm PST

Free
Krista L Kaups MD, MSc, FACS
Professor of Clinical Surgery UCSF Fresno

Presented ByKrista L Kaups MD, MSc, FACS

Damage control resuscitation is an essential part of contemporary management of injured patients. The “more is better” approach for blood pressure and fluid management has significant detrimental effects.   Selecting optimal quantities and types of fluid and blood products for resuscitation, recognizing patients for whom permissive hypotension is appropriate and choosing suitable endpoints of resuscitation are important components of this approach.

Desired Outcomes:

  •  Review the concepts of damage control as it applies to trauma resuscitation.
  • Discuss appropriate fluid and blood product choices for management of the severely injured trauma patient.
  • Consider the utility and reliability of available endpoints of resuscitation.
