TRAUMA Grand Rounds: Damage Control – Orthopaedics

This course is designed to review the principles of acute orthopaedic trauma management and damage control orthopaedics in critically injured patients. Dr. Ding will review current concepts in orthopaedic trauma, including the management of polytrauma and complex fractures, through case reviews.

Desired Outcomes:

  •  Demonstrate acute management of orthopaedic injuries presenting to the ED
  • Review open fracture management and principles
  • Discuss intent and concepts underlying damage control orthopaedics
  • Recognize unstable pelvic ring injuries: describe their diagnosis and initial management
