PEDIATRICS Grand Rounds: Connective Tissue Disorders in Children

This grand rounds presentation will focus on the most common connective tissue disorders that will be seen by pediatricians and general practitioners, including Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Williams syndrome, Marfan syndrome, and Loeys-Dietz syndrome.  The biological basis, clinical manifestations and diagnosis, cardiovascular abnormalities, and management of these groups will be discussed.

Desired Outcomes:

  • Discuss the fundamental etiologies of Ehlers-Danlos, Williams, and Marfan syndromes.
  • Apply the revised Ghent criteria to make the diagnosis of Marfan syndrome.
